Higher Fines for Serious Offences
As of March 12 2015, a new law has removed the upper penalty limit for the most serious Level Five offences in British magistrates courts. Previously there was a £5,000 cap in magistrates courts. This will give magistrates more flexibility when deciding on penalties for for a number of the most serious offences, including causing death by dangerous driving.
